I am pretty much just your average 24 year old trying to find my way in life. All my life I have always kept active and participated in karate since I was 4 years old. I was even lucky enough to represent Australia 4 times, travelling to China, Japan, South Africa and New Zealand. Once I finished school I was unsure of what job I wanted to pursue and for the first year after school I took a gap year and trained every day and travelled to Japan for the World Tournament. Considering I have always had a passion for health and fitness I decided to enrol in a Bachelor of Health Science in Nutrition. 6 months down the track I decided to defer as I didn’t enjoy the material as much as I thought I would.
During this time I worked part time at a pub and continued my training. Once I was 20 years old I began getting breakouts, which looking back on now weren’t very severe and would be considered minor acne. This struggle gave me a new found passion for skin, which motivated me to enrol in a diploma of beauty therapy. As this passion grew I was eager to gain more knowledge on the skin, so I could make a real difference for those suffering with skin conditions. Once I completed my diploma I enrolled in a Bachelor of Health Science in Dermal Therapies, where I am now in my 4th year of study. Having acne has always been something that I would avoid talking about, or hide with makeup, but I feel now is the time to open up about my struggle.
